“Modern medicine using an old-fashioned approach”
All of our patients are stars in our eyes...
OUR MISSION
- We provide comprehensive, cost effective, quality, evidence- based medical services in an environment that is caring and friendly.
- We shift the focus of medical care from a reactive, illness based practice (“The ambulance at the bottom of the cliff” scenario) to proactive, preventative health care.
Our core VALUES are the HEART of our practice
We are committed to professional, compassionate and respectful care of each of our patients.
❤ H – Honesty
❤ E – Excellence
❤ A – Access
❤ R – Respect
❤ T – Teamwork
“It’s all about the relationship”
We offer “STAR TREATMENT” for all of our patients.
The letters in the word “STAR” represent elements of our practice that allow us to treat every patient like a VIP.
THE STAR MODEL:
★ S – Service
★ T – Trust
★ A – Access
★ R – Relationship
“Modern medicine using an old-fashioned approach”
All of our patients are stars in our eyes...
We offer the entire spectrum of primary care, from preventive care and wellness checks, to diagnosis and treatment of illness injury and disease – all in a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment.
“Specializing in All of You”
✦ Infant/Child visits – Sick children are always seen as soon as possible on the same day.
✦ Primary Health Care is provided to patients of all ages from birth to age 100+. Covering a multitude of illnesses – from coughs, colds, sore throats, sprained ankles to chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, etc.
✦ General Physical Exams for work, school or sports are offered
✦ Well Woman Visits
✦ Men’s Health visits
✦ Executive/Insurance Medical Examinations
✦ Corporate/Employment Medical Examinations
✦ Professional Drivers Permits (PDP) Evaluations
✦ Chronic Disease Management – heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma and allergies, diabetes care, HIV/Aids, lung disease, arthritis, headaches and more.
✦ Emergency Medical Care – suturing of wounds, nebulization, plaster of paris application, ECG’s etc.
✦ Life-threatening Illness – patients are advised to go directly to the nearest Emergency Center/Casualty – to save precious time (minutes) in the “Golden Hour” (e.g. suspicion of a heart attack, stroke, serious trauma and other injuries)
✦ Minor Surgical Procedures – which can be done in the rooms
✦ Home Care Visits/Frail Care Visits for those patients who are unable to come in to our rooms are also available (NB – these are by special appointment only). These visits do demand a surcharge over and above our usual fee. Bookings need to be made in advance, so as not to cause a delay in the normal practice hours.
✦ Special Services – Referral to Radiologists and other Medical Specialists as needed, as well as Laboratory (Pathology) Services with on-site phlebotomy. Specimens are couriered by the Lab’s dedicated transport services.
✦ Geriatric Care – caring for the elderly is one of our passions!
New Patients: What to Expect
Here are some tips to help make your first visit to our practice as efficient and pleasant as possible:
1. Arrive 15-30 min prior to your appointment to complete any necessary paperwork. In an effort to help save you time in the waiting room, it is recommended that new patients, with an appointment, complete a new patient form (available from the office prior to visiting, or by downloading from our website.)
2. Bring a list of all medications you are taking, including prescriptions, OTC medications, herbal supplements and vitamins.
3. Bring your Medical Aid card. A copy will be made and placed in your patient folder for charging purposes for submission to your medical aid on your behalf.
4. Bring a form of photo identification, (ID or Driver’s license) which will be copied and placed in your patient folder.

“from the cradle to the grave”
Family Medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the comprehensive care of the whole person and family, regardless of gender or age, from the beginning to the end of life. (“from cradle to grave”)
Family physicians are trained to provide personalized care for at least 85 percent of a person’s medical problems, and to coordinate appropriate referral to the specialty care that may be needed for the rest (25%)
We share a concern for the total well-being of all people and the families within the communities we serve. We treat a wide variety of patients. So whether you or your loved one is an infant, young child, teenager, young adult, adult (male or female) an elderly person, or a sports enthusiast, we are able to service your healthcare needs.
“Modern medicine using an old-fashioned approach”
☆ We offer booking visits for walk-in patients on a first come, first served basis. Most patients with an urgent (acute) need are able to see a doctor on the same day.
☆ Patients are triaged at reception, and immediate attention is provided to the more severely ill patients first (e.g. tight chest, chest pain, trauma etc.)
☆ Patients are requested to be patient and respect the Doctor’s decision to treat the more serious patient first. (It might just be you next time!)
☆ Appointments are reserved for certain procedures and special examinations( (enquire at reception)
☆ Most Medical Aids are accepted-BHF rates are charged.
☆ Cash Patients are welcome, and are treated at reasonable rates. A package fee is charged (which includes the Consultation+ Medication- We aim to be a “one stop shop” practice, for the convenience of our patients.
☆ Our facility does have a Dispensing license, so we are able to dispense most “bread and butter “medication. If we do not stock the required medication, a prescription is issued.
☆ IOD (Injury on Duty) patients are accepted-please contact our practice to ensure that our practice is listed with your IOD insurer (e.g. WCA. FEM etc.)
New patients are always welcome!
“Modern medicine using an old-fashioned approach”
"I believe in being and giving your best at all times."
I received my undergraduate training at The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, graduating with the MBBCh in 1995. I spent a number of years rotating through various departments of Livingstone Hospital in the Port Elizabeth Hospital Complex.
In 1997, I went abroad and did a a stint as an Emergency Medical Physician at the Regina General Hospital, Saskatchewan, Canada.
On my return, I spent additional time in the Medicine Department of the Provincial Hospital in Port Elizabeth, after which I spent a year doing locums in many GP practices and after-hour centers in the Port Elizabeth area, before finally settling into private General Practice.
I have been associated with the practice in Algoa Park since it’s inception in August 1998, when the practice was started, together with Dr Abe Meyer, who has since emigrated to Canada.
Following this, and while in active practice, I pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch, and graduated with an MMed(Fam Med).
I have always maintained that general practice is about “family medicine” – my special interest, and the highlight of my work is found in caring for each generation.
I think that the happy atmosphere at our practice is great, and I am delighted that the practice has ‘stood the test of time’ by serving the community for many years now. We are even beginning to see second generation children coming through.
"Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends & pursuing other interests."
